Today's Challenges

Climate change negatively impacts crop production by altering growing conditions, such as temperature and rainfall, which affect the yield, quality, and timing of harvest. For berries and orchards, such changes combined with increasing the frequency of extreme weather events, lead to decreased yields and lower fruit quality.

insolagrin Replacing Plastic Tunnels

Replacing plastic tunnels in berry production with transparent solar modules can have multiple benefits. It provides a protected growing environment for the crops while allowing for natural diffused light optimised for crops’ needs. It also generates renewable energy for self-consumption, reducing the carbon footprint of the operations.

How it Works

insolagrin solution is based on three pillars, with a smart integration of hardware and software components

insolagrin dynamic solution three components

Semi – transparent PV modules with bifacial solar cells produce solar electricity whilst protecting the crops. Sensors continuously measure the climate conditions and feed information to the piloting & control system. When needed the shading layer is deployed for additional shade and a boost to the electricity production.

insolagrin can be piloted automatically or manually through our web interface.

Agronomic Benefits of insolagrin Agrivoltaic Solution

Light transition

Light Transmission Control

The optical layer is piloted continuously to deliver precise amounts of light to the crops

Crop protection

Crop Protection

Crops are fully protected from rain, snow or hail. Rainwater can be collected by gutters for irrigation

Humidity management

Ventilation

The openings on the structure enable effective ventilation for optimal temperature & humidity conditions.

Frost protection

Night mode against frost

The optical layer deploys automatically at night to keep the crops warm and protect them against frost

Reduced water

Reduced Water Consumption

The optical layer shades the crops to keep them cooler during heat waves and reduce water consumption
